Buckhead Business Attorney

Located within Fulton County the Buckhead Community was founded in the 1800’s and today is a vibrant and affluent area that has its roots in frontier history. Records show that Henry Irby, originally from South Carolina, purchased 203 acres of land in the area for $650. On that land he built a general store and tavern situated on what is currently the northwest corner of Roswell Road and West Paces Ferry Road. The establishment served as a rest stop for all types of travelers, but especially hunters who passed through the forested area. Over time people began to settle the area and the community became known as Irbyville. Popular lore states that the name changed when Henry Irby mounted the head of a large buck onto a post at the tavern. So impressed by the size and beauty of the buck, the residents began to refer to Irbyville as Buckhead. Mr. Irby kept the general store and tavern running through the Civil War period and died in 1879. He is buried in the cemetery of the Sardis Methodist Church, the area’s oldest congregation that was established in 1812. A proposal was made in the late 1800’s to change the area’s name to Northside Park, but it was unpopular and the Buckhead name remains today.

Today Buckhead is often likened to Beverly Hills, California with its ranking as one of the country’s ten wealthiest communities. Unincorporated, the area isn’t a city, but it has all of the elements that any city should have. Buckhead is a mixed-use area with high-rise commercial and residential space, several hotels, as well as nightlife and entertainment venues. The community also touts an elegant shopping district with the country’s highest concentration of luxury boutiques, fine dining and is home to a beautiful residential area that includes quiet neighborhoods and historic mansions. The main office of The Libby Law Firm is located in the historic Buckhead district, with other locations in Midtown Atlanta and Marietta.
